D'Amato and top sports agent Eugene Napoleon co-authored a book called "Dream Real" which was released in September 2006. The book offers teens serious about "going pro" a behind-the-scenes look at professional athleticism today along with some critical strategies and tips for success in any environment.

In November 2006 the book became a bestseller. Co-author Napoleon appeared on ESPN's show "Quite Frankly" with Stephen A. Smith in February 2007 as part of their release tour.

Shortly after the book tour, "Dream Real" was named one of Foreword Magazine's Book of the Year finalists.
